Friends of Willimantic Downtown!
Thread City Development presents: Willimantic Downtown September Stroll
WHAT: Thread City Development presents a Willimantic Downtown September Stroll on Saturday, September 20, 2014. This first-time event is designed to get feet on the street in Willimantic Downtown and showcase everything great that downtown has to offer – i.e. YOU! The September Stroll will offer opportunities for downtown merchants to promote and market your products and services to Willimantic region residents, visitors and students. Thread City Development will coordinate promotions associated with the sale while participants organize their sale details.
HOW: You name it – it’s really up to you!
-
If you are a downtown business: Offer a special menu item, host an in-house event, samples, live entertainment or a sale or discount. Anything that you feel works for you in highlighting how great you are! You may already have something lined up already for that date – how perfect is that?
-
If you are a local organization that would like to join us: Do! Meet us on Main Street with an activity planned. That’s the key. Plan a family friendly activity and we’ll place you in a prime location on Main Street. Thread City Development's Promotions Committee is planning to host a large scale version of a Willimantic-themed Monopoly game.
-
If you are a local entertainer/artist: Come! Just let us know what you’d like to do and we’ll find the best place for you to do it!
WHAT’S THE CATCH? There isn't one. We’re working with WILI and The Chronicle to provide competitive advertising rates to reach more people. We will also take to social media and provide you with content to share. We’ll produce promotional material and send out a release to our media list. We’ll do our part to spread the word about the event.
Let’s Get The Word Out!
A poster advertising the event will be printed and distributed to participants, as well as throughout the area. We will issue a press release announcing the event; promote the event on WillimanticDowntown.org, the Downtown Beat e-newsletter and via Willimantic Downtown’s Facebook and Twitter. We will also provide participants with event information that can easily be used in a Facebook post or newsletter.
