Vision
Willimantic is an ethnically diverse, culturally rich urban haven for artists, entrepreneurs, and academia surrounded by countryside. Proud of its well preserved industrial roots and Victorian age heritage, Thread City residents enjoy living in a town which encourages creative expression and risk taking. The river, which once powered the mills, is treasured as a natural resource for contemplation and recreation. We welcome visitors, new residents, and businesses to find themselves in Willimantic.
Mission
The Willimantic Downtown Partnerhsip's (Thread City Development Inc.) mission is to return downtown Willimantic to vibrancy by fostering partnerships that facilitate community initiatives; supporting and attracting businesses; improving the physical value and appeal of the community; and promoting those efforts.

Goal I Organization: Increase the impact of Willimantic Downtown Partnership by strengthening its infrastructure and collaborative relationships.
Goal II-Economic Enhancement: Create and implement an economic development plan in collaboration with the city.
Goal III Promotion: Continue to enhance the image of downtown through retail promotions, special events, and branding. Increasing the social value of downtown will increase the economic value of the district.
Goal IV Design: Improving the physical value and appeal of downtown through both new construction and rehabilitation of historic and under-utilized buildings. Encourage design of public spaces for walking and gathering.
