The Windham Historical Society and the Jillson House Museum presents a beginners calligraphy class with professional calligrapher Kathleen Lepak (www.kathleenlepakdesigncalligraphy.com). This class is an introduction to the art of calligraphy. There are many different "hands", or styles of lettering with the broad edged nib. The primary focus for this class will be the Italic hand and the strokes used to form each letter. We will also introduce the Foundational hand briefly. Along with basic supplies, each student will receive an instructional packet with samples, printed guides for different sizes of lettering and information on pens, papers, inks, and other materials. A catalogue from John Neal Bookseller, a major supplier of calligraphic and bookbinding materials and books, will be included as well.
