The Providence Mandolin Orchestra has the reputation as one of the best American mandolin orchestras, with various CD's and several international tours to its credit.  The orchestra was formed circa 1914; Hampton's own, Mark Davis has directed the orchestra for the last 25 years, with an emphasis on developing an adventuresome, exciting and original repertoire.

The PMO's Bread Box concert will highlight its eclectic programming. Composers represented include Ambrosius and Thiergartner (Germany); Schulz (Australia), Vivaldi and Mandonico (Italy), Martel, Hartford, Kellaris and Kioulaphides (USA).

German mandolin soloist Steffen Trekel will be featured in Antonio Vivaldi's famous MANDOLIN CONCERTO IN C.

Opening act is Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards.  The pair of singer/songwriters walk the roads of New England each summer in the tradition of great folk singers like Woody Guthrie.

Tickets are $10 and are available at The Willimantic Food Coop, 91 Valley St., or at the door.   The show begins at 7:30pm.  All proceeds from the show go directly to the Covenant Soup Kitchen & Emergency Food Pantry.
